May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And above all, may silence make you strong. – Chief Dan George
There are some days when I am overwhelmed with all that is laid upon me to deal with. Days when I become mired down in endless paperwork, projects and what everyone else needs, both at home and at work. It is easy to get lost underneath it all.
But when I am overwhelmed, I have learned to find my center in the lullaby of the Native American flute or the beat of the drum. I can surround myself in the music and drift away from the chaos. I can close my eyes and see the open lands, the red rocks, the canyons and the vast blue sky – and imagine myself there.
I guess it’s a bit like using the music as a form of meditation. Training my mind to hear and see only the music and the vision and stop focusing on what surrounds me. Once I let go and focus on the music, I find my center.
If you ever find yourself in the same place, I encourage you to do the same. Some links are provided below. Hear only the music and envision your place of peace….
Blessings on your journey.
